Aircraft Dispatcher DISTANCE LEARNING COURSE with 6 day residency.


AGS offers a FAA-approved Distance Learning Course (DLC) in addition to our standard 13 weekend program. The DLC is designed so that you may complete the first 10 weekends (152 hours) of our 13 weekend ground school at your own pace. You have 1 year to complete course requirements.


Upon completion of the our PowerPoint presentations; & the FAA Private Pilot and Aircraft Dispatcher Computer Knowledge exams at our website, you will then attend a 6-day residency study program at our global campus - Flamingo Air/AGS located in the terminal building at Lunken Airport, Cincinnati, Ohio.


REGISTRATION FEES


The DLC fee is $2595 & includes books and materials., The two FAA computer exams are $150 each at our location and the FAA examiner fee is $375. You may register with a non-refundable $500 deposit at which time we will forward the initial study materials and start the M1 visa application process for you. The balance ($2095) is due 8 days prior to class & can be paid with cash, check, money order, wire transfer, MasterCard, Visa, Western Union, or Travelers Checks. You are responsible for airline travel expenses, meals, and hotel.


FAA REQUIREMENTS


There are several milestones in your training for which we provide all study materials: 


1. The FAA Private Pilot multiple choice computer knowledge exam. You must be knowledgeable on the same fundamentals as a pilot. We provide our AGS self-study manual for this exam. Plan to arrive a few days before class begins to sit for this exam in our facility. This exam absolutely must be completed successfully before class begins.


2. The FAA Aircraft Dispatcher multiple choice computer knowledge exam. This is the advanced test. We provide our AGS self-study manual for this exam. You can sit for this exam in our facility a day or two before class begins.


A successful score on the FAA Private Pilot and Dispatcher exams, & the AGS open-book exams is proof that you have studied & learned the basic concepts & are ready for the intense 6 days of residency study. Be advised the FAA computer knowledge exams are the most difficult part of the course.


3. Completion of the AGS PowerPoint presentations and quizzes at our website.


4. Completion of the mandatory six days of residency training.


5. You must then complete the final exam, and sit for your FAA oral/practical test within 90 days of graduation. Your instructor will schedule this exam at a time convenient to both you and the FAA Examiner. 


You must arrive several days early at our location to sit for the FAA computer exams and adjust to the time difference.

WORKLOAD


Be advised that the materials provided will require many hours of reading & study, & involves dedication on your part to complete the requirements. Again, this is an intense course & procrastination is your worst enemy! You should enroll now in order to receive the study materials to get started with your career.


PREREQUISITES


No prior aviation experience is required to enroll in our Distance Learning Course. You must be 21 years of age to attend. If less than 23, a letter will be issued by the FAA examiner stating that you meet all requirements. Your dispatcher certificate will be issued by the FAA on your 23rd birthday following receipt of a current address.


Subject Matter - Meteorology, Emergencies, Dispatch Resource Management, Aeronautical Information Manual, Turbojet Systems, Performance Charts, Airline Operations Specifications, Approach & Instrument Charts, Flight Planning, & Federal Aviation Regulations Part 121. This is a Private & Instrument Pilot ground school with a Boeing 737-300. A simple high school math level involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division is required & basic typing/computer skills.

TRANSPORTATION


Transportation from the Cincinnati Intl Airport to the hotel is provided as well as transportation to and from the hotel to the classroom each day. A rental car is not necessary.


BOOKS & MATERIALS


The following training materials are mailed to you as part of your training package (& are yours to keep for your personal library): Rod Machado Private Pilot Manual; E6B circular flight computer; AGS Private Pilot test prep manual; AGS ATP/Dispatcher test prep manual; plotter; AGS Operations Manual (3-ring binder); and International Time Wheel.


THE FAA ORAL / PRACTICAL EXAM


Following training, you are required to sit for a final exam consisting of a oral/practical flight plan exercise with a turbojet from city A to city B. You have approximately 4 hours to complete the flight planning exercise followed by a 2 hour open book oral examination with the FAA Examiner on staff. We suggest you schedule your return trip several days after class in case you have any training issues which need to be resolved.

M-1 STUDENT VISA


We will airmail a visa application to you to present to the US Consulate or Embassy when you declare your class date. It takes about 90 days to process a visa. All dispatch students are required to have a M-1 Visa due to new immigration rules imposed after Sep. 11th, 2001.
